| The VTP-clinic developed the treatment of
somatic tinnitus during two decades. Our experiance is that vertigo, tinnitus
and pain decrease when muscuslar tension decreases.
Patients are treated in a holistic view, including a stress management plan. The patient is made awere of his/hers parafunctions (reflexive movements of the teeth and jaw) during daytime. The parafunctions are more active during REM sleep. The patient is also made awere of his/hers supportive body functions. The jaw and neck is treated as an integrated system, where occlusion to a large extent influences head/neck posture. Relaxation, stretching and upright training is useful exercises, together with a co-ordinated treatment to stabilise the occlusion. Sometimes also bite splints are constructed, to support the stabilised occlusion for the improved posture. |
